Am I the only one in the world who is deeply !disturbed and #annoyed with empty commit messages? I write screenfuls of commit notes!
-
@bkuhn I try to sum it up, general rule is 100 characters
-
Not at all.
-
I believe the commit message should help reader understand the state of mind of the commiter at time of the commit. Important historically.
-
@bkuhn perhaps a "state of mind" flag of some sort is called for then
-
So, empty commit messages are okay as long as the committer is a zen master?
Jason Self likes this. -
Not quite. The Zen Master must write a commit statement saying: "My mind is clear as I contribute this improvement"
-
That sounds to me like mistaking the finger pointing at the moon for the moon itself.
-
@bkuhn heh. all Linux-libre commit messages would then be “[censored] Linus [censored]” :-D
